Tales of my mermaid girlfriend spread far and wide. New faces had come to join our group and old companions had returned with my expanding fame as a leader. I was shocked to see a Centaur join our number!
Our first order of business was thus: a group of large robots had a storehouse of treasure. We found that, if we wore golden pins we found in an office of some kind, the robots regarded us as superiors. Sparkles and I donned these pins and led the robots away to deal with a "security" issue. Meanwhile, our allies relieved them of their treasure. Sparkles and I abandoned the robots as we came across some potential threats. We told them to go forth and, as they did, we ran out of the dungeon without issue.
We rendezvoused at Denithex. We then...
Returned to the dungeon! Significant lucre had been attained but something was missing. Money was one thing, yes, but we still needed glory! My bloodlust was not sated.
We entered through the lower level, in which one must sneak by stirges and traipse across a rope bridge. Inside we opted to more thoroughly explore the eastern areas we had previously marched through rather quickly. While we searched a dead end room, filled with nought but old tables and debris, Doberman and Hrothgar heard some large creature lumbering in the corridor to the north. Wisely, they threw a table in front of the door and we retreated to the rear. After about 10 minutes the creature moved on. My heart stilled, though I must confess I wished to do battle with the mystery monster.
Across the corridor we found a room covered in web. Being an experienced adventurer I knew there would be a giant spider within and wished to test my brawn against it. But Sparkles and Doberman held me back and, instead, used oil and torches to light the webs aflame! I heard the monster scratch pathetically at the door as it was crisped and suddenly felt myself filled with overbearing sorrow. To die an undignified death, without the chance to meet your end in noble combat...
The treasure we found within cheered me up.
We then sought to explore a long hallway dotted with alcoves along the perimeter that went east for a long while. Myself and Hrothgar stood guard while Doberman searched the various alcoves. Doberman told me he found some skeletons and, in an abundance of caution, we stabbed them while they were inert. As it turned out they begin to come to alive! The six skeletons were routed quickly. I returned to guard duties.
Centaur found a sarcophagus and chanced to open it. Doberman had readied his bardiche to attack anything that should emerge. A skeleton within tried to grasp Centaur but Doberman felled it in a single blow. Though the coffin seemed to be empty, Doberman's thuglike instincts prompted him to carve open some leather within using his knife. Even more treasure was within!
At that, we opted to leave the dungeon. Our pockets were filled to burst with the treasure we had found. Far and away, this was the most treasure we had found in our journeys yet. Having a larger party allowed us to push a little further and better divide the risk. In particular, we had just enough people to divide the party when robbing the large robots.
When I returned home I told my squire Moid of all that occurred. While my wealth has grown on this day, I was left despondent--I lost myself once again in the sickly sweet taste of mead. The thrill of adventure is the thrill of death; it is the joy of clashing blades with an equal opponent. On this day I had no such joy, and was left feeling more mouse than man.
