The Venerable Moose

The eyes of the Moose are sad because they remember everything they've seen. Those memories are encoded in rings inside their antlers that stretch year over year even as their bodies become long and taut. After childhood they wander alone and watch. They do not die until killed or starved.

A gaunt, fly-bitten Moose on its last day is a holy sight. If you see one, you may be a Saint.
